
BIO
Sam Shinnick is a guitarist, songwriter, composer, and teacher. He specializes in jazz and alternative rock, and is well-versed in many other genres such as pop, hip-hop, Americana and blues.
Sam is based in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from University of Southern California (USC) with a Master's Degree in Music, studying Studio Guitar. He also has a Bachelor's Degree in Music with an emphasis in Jazz Studies from San Jose State (SJSU). He has had the opportunity to study with Bruce Forman, Rick Vandivier, Hristo Vitchev, Richard Smith, Adam Del Monte, Mason Razavi, and Randy Vincent, along with many other great teachers.

Sam plays at a wide range of venues from small clubs, to restaurants, to theaters. Currently he is involved in jazz groups along with the alternative indie hip-hop jazz group, Booty&theKidd, where he combines his love of jazz, funk, psychedelic music, and hip-hop. When he lived in the bay area, San Jose, California, Sam played lead guitarist for an alternative rock cover band, the Last Decade. They play an extensive setlist of hits and deeper cuts from the 90s and 2000s including pop-punk, alternative rock, emo, hardcore music, and even punky remixes of boy band songs.
